St Paul de Vence
One of the most famous of the ‘perched’ villages, with 16th century ramparts and a wealth of medieval architecture. Recommended – lunch at the ‘Colombe d’Or’ where Picasso, Modigliani and Cocteau paid for their board and lodging with works of art and Simone Signoret married Yves Montand on the restaurant terrace.

Biot
Walk through the 16th Century Port des Tines into the old walled village and follow the cobblestoned streets to the Place aux Arcades, originally the Roman forum. The 15th Century village church leads off the east end of the square and on the Rue St Sebastien you can visit the craft workshops with pottery, sculpture, jewellery, and the famous bubble-flecked local glassware. Recommended - ‘Les Arcades’ a charming hotel-restaurant with a private art collection in the basement.

Juan-les-Pins and the Cap d’Antibes
Founded by Scott Fitzgerald and the international jet-set of the 1920’s with luxury villas on a wooded peninsula. Recommended – the pretty walk around the Cap to the Plage de la Garoupe hidden away in one of the coves, and the ‘Jazz at Juan’ summer festival held under the pine trees next to the beach.
